Scientific Games signs multi-channel licensing deal with Margaritaville25th March 2014 9:09 am GMT
US gaming and lottery supplier Scientific Games Corporation has signed a licensing agreement with Margaritaville Enterprises to offer the Margaritaville brand across all of the company’s channels of distribution including real-money and social gaming products.
Margaritaville is well known for its restaurants located in popular tourist destinations throughout the US and internationally in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Panama.
The agreement makes the Margaritaville brand available to Scientific Games customers for lottery games and slot machines, as well as social games and game content for real-money internet gaming.
It is the second multi-channel licensing agreement signed by Scientific Games since the company acquired WMS Industries late last year, and follows the signing of an agreement with Hasbro.
“Scientific Games is continuing its commitment to providing lotteries, casinos and online gaming operators worldwide with opportunities to leverage the popularity of some of the biggest consumer brands in the market today,” said Steve Saferin, president, Properties Group, and chief creative officer for Scientific Games. “Margaritaville is synonymous with fun and escapism – promoting the lifestyle so many gaming consumers dream about, which makes it ideal for all four distribution channels.”
Over the past few years, Margaritaville has expanded its portfolio to include casinos, hotels, resorts and vacation ownership. It currently has hotels and casinos located in Pensacola Beach, Bossier City and Las Vegas, with Hollywood Beach, Florida slated to open in 2015.
In addition, Margaritaville has an expansive line of consumer products including apparel and footwear, furniture, headphones and blenders, as well as access to Jimmy Buffett concert tickets (a singer-songwriter famous for his 1977 song Margaritaville), resulting in unique merchandise and experiential prize options.
The first Margaritaville instant game is scheduled to launch next month by the Florida Lottery. The $5 game will offer a $250,000 top prize, along with vacation and concert experience prizes, and Margaritaville merchandise prize packs.
