Declining French poker market forces Barriere-FDJ shut down

Barriere Poker, the site operated by the LB Poker subsidiary co-owned by Groupe Lucien Barriere and Française des Jeux, is to shut down its French-facing offering, blaming the closure on the continuing struggles of the country’s online poker market.

The operator explained that “the sharp decline” of poker in the second quarter of this year, when the vertical posted its largest fall in revenue since the opening of the market, coupled with the sixth consecutive quarter of decline in player numbers, prompted the decision to shut down its offering from September 30th.
