The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is proposing a series of wide-ranging changes to the island's gambling regulations as it looks to set out a new, future-proofed legal framework for governance of the sector.

The regulator has published a public consultation document which reveals plans to repeal the existing gambling framework entirely, replacing it with a single Act of Parliament. This Gaming Act would run parallel with secondary legislation, directives and guidelines for the sector.
