The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has signed its first official partnership with the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

The deal ahead of the start of the Paris Olympics makes OLG the official Ontario Lottery partner of Team Canada for the upcoming Olympic Games.

The partnership will be supported by a marketing campaign called ‘Sponsored by You’, which aims to reinforce the message that when players play with the OLG, they are supporting athletes from Ontario in achieving their dreams.

The partnership also gives players the opportunity to win prizes such as Team Canada prize packs, while players who buy an online lottery ticket between before 12 August gain entry into a draw to win a trip to the Winter Olympics in 2026.

Maxine Chapman, VP of brand and marketing officer at OLG, said: “Many people don’t realise 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested into Ontario and that we have a longstanding history of supporting amateur athletes.

“OLG’s ability to give back to communities is only possible thanks to our players, so we wanted to use this opportunity to recognise and celebrate them.”

This new marketing campaign will feature Team Canada athletes Andre De Grasse, Penny Oleksiak, Maggie Mac Neil, Jillian Weir and other Ontario athletes and Para athletes who have received funding from Ontario’s Quest for Gold program.

“Training for the Olympics takes a lot of preparation, physically, mentally and financially, and it’s not something you can succeed at alone,” said De Grasse.

“Having programs like Quest for Gold to help and knowing your community is supporting you makes all the difference, especially when you’re competing on the world stage.”
