Swedish betting and gaming operator ATG has appointed Swedish Trotting Association president Jörgen Forsberg as interim CEO.
Forsberg will lead the company until a permanent CEO is in place and succeeds ATG chairman Peter Norman, who has served as interim CEO following the resignation of Hasse Lord Skarplöth last month.
“I welcome Jörgen Forsberg to ATG,” said Norman. “He will lead the work of implementing the plans decided by the Board of Directors and be acting CEO until a new CEO is recruited. The recruitment process for a permanent solution is ongoing.”
Forsberg has only been in charge of the Swedish Trotting Association (Svensk Travsport) since January of this year, and will retain his role as president and CEO while serving as ATG’s interim CEO.
Ulf Hörnberg, deputy CEO of Svensk Travsport, will handle some additional operational duties during this period.
“While waiting for a new CEO, I look forward to continuing to develop ATG in accordance with the Board’s plans together with all of ATG’s employees and to safeguard the company’s important role for the Swedish horse industry,” said Forsberg.
Forsberg was previously chairman and CEO of the Stockholm Trotting Society. He has also held senior positions in the automotive industry, both in Sweden and internationally.
“Jörgen Forsberg has extensive leadership experience and a strong commitment to equestrian sports,” said Anders Källström, chairman of the Swedish Trotting Association. “From the ownership side, we are both confident and grateful that he has accepted the role as acting CEO of ATG during the recruitment process of a new CEO.”
Svensk Travsport owns approximately 91 per cent of ATG, with the remaining stake owned by the Swedish Jockey Club (Svensk Galopp).
