Record online slots wagering drives Rhode Island’s sports and iGaming growth in May
Rhode Island’s wagering on sports and iGaming showed growth of 14 per cent in May to $187.4 million.
There was variation in performance across Rhode Island’s different sectors in May and online slots had the best growth of 35 per cent to a record monthly total of $111.5 million.
Betting on online table games fell by 5 per cent to $44.3 million, meaning that total iGaming bets rose by 21 per cent to $155.8 million.
Monthly sports handle in Rhode Island declined by 11 per cent to $31.6 million, including a 9 per cent drop in online betting to $27.0 million.
Retail betting at the state’s two casinos was up by 5 per cent year-on-year to $4.6 million.

Rhode Island’s total revenue from iGaming and sports betting grew by 9 per cent in May to $8.9 million.
Revenue from iGaming was $6.6 million, up by 36 per cent from 2025 and a new monthly high, while sports betting revenue slipped by 30 per cent to $2.3 million.
Online betting revenue decreased by 23 per cent to $2.1 million and retail betting revenue showed an even greater percentage fall of 65 per cent to $184,475.
GINA Week 25 highlighted how Rhode Island’s sports betting has untapped potential as a high-tax monopoly market.
The state is considering opening up its sports betting sector to competition through more licences.
