Dutch national lottery operator completes its executive leadership team with appointment of Ageeth Bakker

Nederlandse Loterij has strengthened its executive board with the appointment of Ageeth Bakker as chief financial and risk officer (CFRO).

Bakker will begin her new role on 1 November, having recently stepped down as CFRO and a member of the executive board of Dutch financial institution Bovemij Group, where she served since November 2019.

Prior to that she was chair and director of Dutch mutual insurance company Onderlinge Waarborggroep Centramed, and also spent 13 years at financial services provider Achmea Group.

Bakker’s appointment completes the executive leadership team of the Dutch Lottery, which also includes chief executive Arjan Blok, chief technology and information officer Maartje Geven, and chief commercial officer Arno de Jong.

“The Supervisory Board is pleased to welcome a highly experienced executive like Ageeth Bakker as CFRO of Nederlandse Loterij,” said Raymond Knops, chair of the Supervisory Board of Nederlandse Loterij. “Her extensive expertise in finance and risk, combined with a career in regulated sectors, makes her an excellent fit for this executive role.

“With Ageeth Bakker’s arrival, the executive board is at full strength to further realize Nederlandse Loterij’s strategic ambitions as the most responsible gaming provider and the largest driver of sports and physical activity.”

Commenting on her appointment, Bakker said: “What particularly appeals to me about Nederlandse Loterij is the combination of a strong social mission and a leading position in the gaming sector. With ten trusted brands, Nederlandse Loterij offers players a safe and responsible range of lotteries and online games of chance, with proceeds benefiting society.

“I am eager to contribute to this. I look forward to working with the board and all my colleagues to continue building a successful and future-proof organization, so that we can keep increasing our social contribution.”
