Experienced consumer technology and gaming executive will lead Light & Wonder’s social casino business

Light & Wonder has appointed Matthieu Labbat as CEO of its social casino business, SciPlay.

Labbat succeeds Josh Wilson, who stepped down as SciPlay CEO last month after seven years in charge.

Labbat has nearly 13 years of experience building and scaling mobile games, including more than 7 years in a series of leadership roles at Aristocrat’s social casino business, Product Madness.

Earlier in his career, he held product management and business-performance leadership roles at King, a leading interactive mobile and cross-platform video game developer.

“Matthieu has a proven record of building and scaling mobile gaming businesses, paired with exceptional product vision and a talent for developing teams,” said Light & Wonder president and CEO Matt Wilson. “That combination makes him the ideal leader for SciPlay as we seek to extend the reach of its portfolio of brands.

“SciPlay has a talented team, a portfolio of beloved brands and a clear path to long-term value creation, and I have great confidence in its future. Matthieu will work side by side with SciPlay’s experienced leaders as he immerses himself in the business, our people and our players. I’m delighted to welcome him to Light & Wonder and look forward to supporting him.”

Light & Wonder also thanked chief financial officer Oliver Chow, who has provided executive oversight during SciPlay’s leadership transition.

Shares in Light & Wonder Inc (ASX:LNW) closed 3.17 per cent lower at A$121.04 per share in Sydney earlier Thursday after the company released its third quarter financial results.
