The finance committee of the German parliament has approved a bill that will see a tax of 5 per cent imposed on all sports betting stakes.
Under existing law, only domestic sports bets have been liable to taxation, however under the new law, all bets, including those placed via the internet with foreign operators, will be taxed at a rate of 5 per cent of stakes.
