Sports betting became the leading online gaming vertical in the French market during the second quarter of the year, as gross gaming revenue from the product increased by 7 per cent, while horse race betting and poker both saw revenue decline compared to the same period last year.

According to figures released by French regulator L’Autorité de régulation des jeux en ligne (ARJEL), sports betting gross gaming revenue (GGR) surpassed both horse racing and poker for the first time, rising 7 per cent to €63m. This was ahead of the €61m generated through betting on horse racing, and the combined €56.3m from poker cash games and tournaments.
