Wagering on US racing increased by 7 per cent to $797.4 million in December, according to data published by Equibase.
Wagering increased in the month, even though the number of race days fell by 10 per cent to 231 in December. The number of races run was 9 per cent lower at 2,005.
Total prize money available was $84.8 million, which was a rise of 2 per cent.
