The Illinois Lottery began 2024 with a 9 per cent fall in sales to $314.2 million in January.
Instant win games were the largest category of lottery games during the month and their sales rose by 4 per cent to $186.0 million.
But the increase in instant win sales could not compensate for large falls in the sales of both Mega Millions and Powerball.
