The Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) has agreed to the government's proposal to raise the excise tax on gambling from 18 to 22 per cent of gross gaming revenue (GGR).
The change in law will come into force on 1 July after the Riksdag voted in favour of the tax rise late last week, having been expected to vote on the proposal last month.
