This week has seen new games released by PokerStars, Big Time Gaming and Microgaming, alongside deployments for Revolver Gaming, Ezugi, 1X2 Network, Kiron Interactive, Platin Gaming and Betsoft Gaming.
The Stars Group-owned online poker giant PokerStars has launched a new game which is a pot-limit hybrid of Hold’em and Omaha.
In Fusion, players are dealt two hole cards before the flop, just like in Hold’em. The twist occurs post-flop when remaining players are also dealt a third hole card face-down, magnifying the potential for making bigger and better hands.
On the turn, each player is again dealt another facedown hole card to complete their hand, finalizing the transition from Hold’em to Omaha.
Just as in all Omaha variants, each player must use two of their four hole cards, which they will receive regardless of whether they are all-in before all cards are dealt. The operator said that this has a massive impact on strategy, with equities running much closer together.
“We want to give our players games that they have never played before and bring a unique offering to the table,” said Severin Rasset, director of poker innovation and operations. “Fusion mixes two well-loved formats together, giving an exciting twist to the game. We eagerly await player feedback and look forward to seeing everyone joining the tables and giving Fusion a try.”
PokerStars said that the Fusion format was a first for online poker, following on from a variety of limited-time, cash game innovations released by the operator this year. The game is available now for players in Denmark and will launch on the operator’s .com, .net, .eu, and .uk sites shortly.
PokerStars has also announced that its latest innovation, PokerStars VR, is now available for play- free in all of PokerStars’ global markets. It follows a well-received closed beta test which saw more than 150 invitees play and test the game using Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets.
PokerStars VR was developed in collaboration with virtual reality developer Lucky VR and provides a mix of serious gameplay, fun interactivity and social engagement that adds a whole new poker realm for players and gamers to explore.
Players have the chance to become fully immersed in a variety of social poker scenes, choosing their own environment to play in, such as Macau 2050, The Macau Suite, The Showdown Saloon, Monte-Carlo Yacht, and The Void.
Using intuitive controls for easy gameplay, they can also handle chips and cards, and pick up on tells, talk and interact just as they would at a live table. The game also features voice command and integrated Twitch broadcasting and media streaming on Oculus Rift for those who wish to play and stream.
“When we showcased the product it was amazing to see people really enjoy and become engrossed in the game,” Rasset said. “We wanted to venture into the world of virtual reality because we believe it is an exciting avenue of technology to explore and something that our players would appreciate. I highly recommend that everyone tries out the game as it can only truly be understood and enjoyed by experiencing it.”
Big Time Gaming
Sydney-based supplier Big Time Gaming has rolled out its popular Bonanza slot game for the first time with Microgaming and its Quickfire platform.
Bonanza was first released in 2016 and features Big Time Gaming’s MegaWays mechanic, a random reel modifier system that sees any given spin produce a different number of symbols across the reels, allowing players to experience a totally different game with every spin.
The mining-themed game sees players encouraged to excavate monster wins from deep inside the Bonanza mine, where if lucky they can extract gold and set off the free spin multiplier.
Building on a six-year partnership between the developer and the platform provider, the slot will now be launched with Microgaming’s operator partners.
The launch of Bonanza will be followed by the release of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which will be available via Microgaming and Scientific Games from the end of the month.
“Bonanza is one of the most successful online slot games of all time and adding it to the Microgaming portfolio will ensure it continues to reach new players around the world,” said Big Time Gaming CEO Nik Robinson. “We have a longstanding partnership with Microgaming and the launch of Bonanza and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has garnered a great deal of interest with casinos we have not been able to reach up until now."
Microgaming director of global operations, James Buchanan, commented: “The release of Bonanza via our Quickfire platform is a great addition to our diverse portfolio of games, offering a new feature driven experience with Big Time Gaming’s MegaWays mechanic.
“We look forward to adding more content from Big Time Gaming, especially with the anticipated release of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire online slot later this month.”
Isle of Man-based supplier Microgaming has rolled out another game developed exclusively for it by games studio Just For The Win.
Reel Talent is a five-reel, 20 line online slot that features an eclectic group of talented performers battling it out for a spot on the big stage.
The game incorporates a Symbol Storage feature, which can be activated by any win in the base game. When activated, the symbol type from the winning line is collected in the Symbol Storage and a respin is awarded. When three symbols are accumulated during a game round, the player is given a Superspin for a shot at stardom on the main stage.
Reel Talent’s Superspins feature grants players the chance to wow the audience on three different stages, which will depend on the number of different symbols stored during the base game. Three different symbol types will award the Showtime Superspin, two symbol types will unlock the Big Stage Superspin, and one type of symbol will activate the Solo Performance Superspin.
“Continuing to build on its other stellar game releases, Just For The Win have created another feature driven experience for Microgaming, this time showcasing vibrant graphics reflecting the glitz and glamour of popular talent shows,” said Microgaming games publisher David Reynolds. “Focusing the game experience on Symbol Storage and Superspins, Reel Talent’s mechanic sets a thrilling momentum for epic rewards, complemented by dynamic animations to ramp up anticipation.”
Just For The Win chief product officer Tiger Holmgren added: “We are very excited to see Reel Talent being rolled out to the public. The game offers the highest frequency of big wins in our portfolio to date, which brings plenty of excitement from the very first spin.
“The Symbol Storage feature leads the player through respins to the game’s thrilling Superspin feature where the bright lights, animations and sound effects pave the way to the next level of the game where the main show awaits.”
