GINA Promotions Index hits 34% for June; Florida AG files complaints against sweepstakes casinos and payment processors; Record iGaming revenue in New Jersey in July; Booming Games fined in Ontario; plus the week’s other news from North America.

GINA Promotions Index hits 34% for June

Promotional spending as a share of online sports betting win rose to 34 per cent in June, according to the GINA Promotions Index.

It was the highest level in 2026 so far and was up from 22 per cent in June 2025.

Sportsbooks had higher promotional spend than usual in June because of the FIFA World Cup.

But the monthly gross win margin of the states in the GINA Promotions Index was below 10 per cent in June and the lowest of 2026 to date at 9.4 per cent.

The betting brands will hope that the second half of the tournament saw a better return on their spending.

For Q2 2026, the Promotions Index was 28 per cent versus 25 per cent for Q2 2025.

Indiana

Indiana’s sports wagers climbed by 35 per cent in July to $384.2 million, as mobile betting increased by the same percentage to $377.6 million and the smaller retail betting sector had growth of 52 per cent to $6.6 million. DraftKings was the leading mobile brand on wagers of $137.0 million, ahead of FanDuel on $103.4 million. Monthly adjusted revenue for tax was $40.1 million and gave tax of $3.8 million.

Connecticut

Connecticut’s combined wagering on sports and iGaming rose by 13 per cent in July to $2.05 billion. iGaming recorded an 11 per cent increase in wagers to $1.87 billion, while sports betting wagers were up 47 per cent at $181.3 million, divided $175.7 million from online betting and $5.7 million from retail. Monthly gross win from sports and iGaming grew by 12 per cent to $81.3 million, including a 15 per cent increase in iGaming win to $65.3 million.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania’s gambling revenue neared $600 million in July, growing by 6 per cent to $591.1 million. iGaming showed 9 per cent revenue growth to $249.0 million, while land-based gaming had flat revenue of $286.1 million, with slot revenue up 3 per cent at $213.7 million to offset a 5 per cent drop in gaming tables revenue to $72.4 million. Sports betting had revenue growth of 28 per cent to $51.8 million, split $49.6 million from online betting and $2.3 million from retail.

Mississippi

Mississippi’s casinos won revenue of $208.7 million in July but this was a fall of 1 per cent year-on-year. Slot machine revenue was unchanged at $177.3 million but table games revenue declined by 7 per cent to $26.3 million. Monthly sports betting revenue was the lowest in the state for 2026 so far and was down by 14 per cent at $13.0 million. Adjusted gross win fell even further and was down by 38 per cent year-on-year to $1.6 million.

Washington DC 

Washington DC’s sports wagering neared $65 million in July, rising by 15 per cent year-on-year to $64.2 million. FanDuel led the market but wagers were down by 9 per cent to $24.5 million, while DraftKings narrowed the gap with a 62 per cent rise to $19.8 million. BetMGM saw its wagering more than double to $9.3 million, up by 111 per cent, in third place.

Vermont

In Vermont, total sports wagers increased by 9 per cent to $16.2 million in July, boosted by record wagering from soccer betting of $3.4 million, soaring 244 per cent year-on-year. Baseball was The Green Mountain State’s leading sport for wagers on $4.6 million, a rise of 22 per cent, while total basketball bets, including ebasketball, were $2.6 million. The overall margin improved from 9.4 per cent to 9.9 per cent, meaning that gross win increased by 15 per cent to $1.6 million.

New Jersey

New Jersey’s gambling revenue grew by 12 per cent in July to $678.1 million, including record revenue from iGaming of $276.9 million, a rise of 12 per cent year-on-year. The state’s land-based casinos reported a 7 per cent increase in revenue to $304.2 million, as slot machine win increased by 6 per cent to $226.1 million and table game win rose 10 per cent to $78.1 million. Sports betting revenue was up 30 per cent to $97.0 million, split $94.7 million from online betting and $2.3 million from retail.

Virginia

Virginia’s five land-based casinos won revenue of $102.5 million in July, a rise of 21 per cent year-on-year. Slot machines posted a 25 per cent increase in revenue to $77.8 million and table gaming win was up by 9 per cent to $24.6 million. Caesars Virginia was the leading property on revenue of $36.1 million, ahead of Rivers Casino on $28.7 million and Hard Rock Bristol on $23.0 million.

Maine

Maine’s sports wagers climbed by 41 per cent to $51.8 million in July, rising above $50 million for the first time since March. Online betting rose by 40 per cent to $51.3 million, and retail betting was up fourfold to $505,863. Monthly betting gross win surged by 55 per cent to $6.1 million, at a margin of 11.7 per cent.

In the state’s land-based sector, gaming revenue from Maine’s two casinos increased by 3 per cent to $15.6 million in July. Slot machines earned revenue of $13.6 million, which was a rise of 7 per cent year-on-year, offsetting a 17 per cent drop in table games revenue to $1.9 million.

Tennessee

Tennessee’s sports wagers surged by 35 per cent year to $413.1 million in July, although this was the lowest monthly total of the year so far. Adjusted wagers were up by 38 per cent to $410.2 million and gave monthly tax of $7.6 million.

Arizona

Back into June, Arizona’s sports wagering was up by 22 per cent to $663.9 million, taking the first-half total up 2 per cent to $4.56 billion. The monthly total included $661.9 million from mobile wagering, while retail betting fell by 31 per cent to $2.1 million Gross win was down 21 per cent to $53.8 million, comprising mobile betting gross win of $54.0 million, which was reduced by a gross loss of $118,464 from retail betting.

Genting Malaysia reported a 32 per cent increase in revenue for the second quarter of 2026 to RM3,853.3 million (approx. $947 million), driven by the introduction of table games and slot machines at Resorts World New York City.

Better Collective reported a 9 per cent increase in revenue to €89.1 million for the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong growth in North America.

Bally’s Corporation grew consolidated revenue by 20.5 per cent to $792.2 million in the second quarter of 2026, with growth across all segments.

Bally’s Intralot reported total revenue of €544.2 million for the first-half of 2026, generating adjusted EBITDA of €184.8 million.
