Chambers of Commerce organisations in Canada have thrown their weight behind an effort to legalise single-event sports betting, a move supported by a majority of Canadian citizens and lawmakers and the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA).
According to the CGA, single-event sports betting in Canada is estimated to be worth CAD$10bn to $40bn annually with up to $4bn passing through offshore online betting sites, while the majority of bets are placed with illegal bookmakers and organised gangs.
