The Austrian state of Tirol has revealed plans to amend its gambling legislation to ban live betting within its borders, in a move which it claims will better protect consumers from developing gambling addiction.
The state’s coalition government comprising the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and Green Party has proposed an amendment to the 2002 bill, the Tirol Bookmaker and Totalisator Law, which will prevent customers from placing bets on in-match events online or in betting shops.
