The UK Gambling Commission has warned on-course bookmakers to do more to prevent underage gambling after every track betting operator at Ascot racetrack served a minor without asking for proof of age.

UK law states that only those over 18 years of age are permitted to place bets at a racecourse, however, a 16 year-old was able to place a bet with every track bookmaker at Ascot.

The tests was undertaken on Friday June 20th at the prestigious Royal Ascot race meeting under the supervision of officers from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead police force, and supported by a Gambling Commission compliance manager. The investigation was carried out with the full cooperation of the track licensee Ascot Racecourse Limited.
