The High Court of Australia has dismissed appeals by Tabcorp Holdings and Tatts Group over claims for compensation from the state of Victoria following the loss of their licence to operate poker machines in the state.
The dismissal of the appeals brings to an end proceedings that have been running since the companies’ licences expired in 2008, with Tatts now required to repay the AUD$540.5m it was awarded by the Court of Appeal in in June 2014.
