Bill designed to outlaw iGaming introduced in Congress

Pennsylvania Republican Michael Fitzpatrick has introduced a bill in the US House of Representatives which would render the Department of Justice's (DOJ) 2011 opinion on the Wire Act null and void.

Fitzpatrick's HR6453 aims to "clarify" the DOJ's Memorandum Opinion issued in 2011 by the US Assistant Attorney General of the department’s Criminal Division, which stated that the Wire Act of 1961 only applies to sports betting and not other forms of gaming over the internet.
