The Australian state of Tasmania is drawing up legislation to ban betting on the outcome of lotteries, citing concern for lottery retailers and the playing public.
The Tasmanian government said that the state’s newsagents and lottery vendors are fearful that consumers do not understand that lottery betting involves betting on the outcome of a lottery, as opposed to purchasing an actual lottery ticket.
