Australia’s ACT set to impose wagering point of consumption tax

The government of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has confirmed the introduction of a point of consumption tax for online wagering operators from 2019.

The new tax applies to all bets placed in the ACT or by ACT residents and comes into force on January 1st, 2019.

This will see all operators serving ACT players paying a 15 per cent tax on net wagering revenue, with the proceeds invested in supporting services for the territory’s residents.
