Evidence supports allegations of widespread match-fixing

German police have uncovered evidence that bribes totalling €1.5m have been paid to football referees and players to influence the outcome of games, as part of their ongoing investigation into allegations of football match-fixing which began in November and which has now expanded to include 270 European matches.
