Stockholm-listed online betting and gaming operator Betsson Group has said that the current political situation in the Netherlands is likely to derail plans to liberalise the Dutch iGaming market this year.

The company believes that the current law in the Netherlands is not in line with EU law, as evidenced by the European Commission instituting proceedings in 2006 and again in 2008, and warned that the current political situation placed the likelihood of the introduction of any law liberalising the market and bringing it in line with EU law principles was “clearly in doubt”.
