Congressman’s wife pleads guilty to online gambling scam

Patrice Tierney, wife of U.S congressman John Tierney, pleaded guilty Wednesday for her role in preparing false federal tax returns on more than $7m in proceeds which concealed the operation of an illegal offshore internet gambling business.

Tierney entered guilty pleas on four counts of aiding and abetting the filing of false federal tax returns in a Massachusetts federal court yesterday before U.S District Court Judge William G Young.
