Italy’s ten video lottery terminal (VLT) concession holders are facing a combined fine of €2.5bn following a decision Friday by an Italian court (Corte dei Conti) which ruled that the companies were in violation of their contracts during the start-up process for the opening of the VLT market in 2007.
The Italian government had initially sought €98bn in penalties against all ten VLT concession holders, including €4bn relating to Lottomatica subsidiary, Lottomatica Videolot Rete.
