The UK data regulator has confirmed its support for a proposal to share information between the financial sector and licensed gambling operators.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has written to industry body UK Finance to confirm that data protection law does not stop gambling companies from conducting financial risk checks on customers, and that lenders can share people’s personal information in a transparent and proportionate manner.
