Maine House holds key to legalised sports betting

House Representatives in Maine are expected to vote Tuesday in favour of overriding Governor Janet Mills’ veto of sports betting legislation following last week’s vote in the senate.

The senate voted to overturn the governor’s veto and adopt the legislation unchanged on February 6th by a vote of 20 to 10.

This followed Governor Mills’ veto of the bill in January, stating her belief that the majority of Maine residents are not ready to legalise sports betting.
