Australian and US sportsbook operator PointsBet has been granted license approval to provide online and retail sports betting in Colorado.
The operator has received an Internet Sports Betting Operator License and a Sports Betting Operator License from the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission (CLGCC), which are initially valid until March 2022.
The licenses allow PointsBet and partner Double Eagle Hotel and Casino to launch sports betting in the state in May under legislation that was signed into law by Governor Jared Polis in May 2019.
Double Eagle Hotel and Casino was issued a Master Sports Betting License by the CLGCC last month.
PointsBet said that it expects to take its first bet in Colorado during the second half of this year.
Shares in PointsBet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) closed up 26.15 per cent at AUD$1.64 per share in Sydney Thursday.
