West Virginia set to enhance online poker market with multi-state agreement

15th November 2023 9:43 am GMT

The Multi-State Internet Gaming Association has welcomed its fifth member with the addition of West Virginia.

The move gives West Virginia-based online poker players the ability to compete against players from the association’s other member jurisdictions, which are Delaware, Michigan, Nevada, and New Jersey.

Prior to launch in West Virginia, iGaming service providers wishing to offer multi-state online poker will have submit a letter of intent to the West Virginia Lottery, and gain necessary approvals from West Virginia and other relevant member states.

“I am pleased that our West Virginia iGaming providers will now have the opportunity to offer multi-state poker to our players,” says West Virginia Lottery Director John Myers. “This will greatly increase the potential pool of participants and thus allow our players to play for bigger winnings.”

The Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement was entered into by the States of Nevada and Delaware in 2014, with New Jersey joining in 2017 and Michigan in 2022.
