European and North American regulators enhance cooperation

27th November 2023 9:23 am GMT

Gambling regulators in Europe and North America have agreed a partnership to enhance collaboration among their member authorities.

The agreement between the Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF) and the North American Gaming Regulators Association (NAGRA) aims to improve knowledge-sharing and strengthen cooperation between regulators on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

“At a time of growing global public concern about the risks associated with excessive gambling, particularly with the expansion of markets and innovations, it is becoming imperative to intensify exchanges between regulators on a global scale,” said Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, president of GREF.

“The challenges faced by the GREF and NAGRA regulators are similar, and I am convinced that this collaboration will enhance the protection of our consumers.”

The partnership between the two associations will include joint meetings, invitations to attend each other's annual conferences, and joint seminars on emerging regulatory risks.

Ryan Winfield, special agent with the Arizona Department of Gaming and chairman of NAGRA, said: “The partnership between GREF and NAGRA is essential in this ever-changing sector.  The changing landscape and future of the gambling industry requires us to reach out to other organisations in the sector to stay informed as we continue to tirelessly serve our communities.

“This commitment to collaboration and communication will benefit citizens around the world.”
