Spain’s DGOJ fines 30 iGaming operators €71.4m

Spain’s gambling regulator imposed fines of more than €71 million on online betting and gaming operators during the first half of 2023.

Gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) took action against 30 operators for breaching the country’s strict online gambling regulations.

This included 15 operators who were accused of “very serious infractions” and led to 14 being disqualified from licensure for a period of two years.

Most of the 15 operators with very serious infractions were given a fine of €5 million each.

The DGOJ charged the remaining 15 operators with “serious infractions” liable to a total fine of €1.3 million.
