London-listed Paddy Power Betfair has confirmed that it has entered into discussions with FanDuel to merge its US operations with those of the daily fantasy sports (DFS) giant.

The operator said that the deal would allow the combined business to better target the regulated US sports betting market.

Discussions were ongoing, Paddy Power Betfair said, and there could be no certainty as to whether an agreement would be reached. It was impossible to reveal any details of the terms or timing of any potential transaction, it added.
