ASA bans misleading Betway website banner but clears TV ad

The UK Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against a banner ad for Betway.com which was held to be misleading, but has dismissed a complaint against a TV ad for the online gaming operator which was accused of prioritising gambling over everyday activities.A headline banner on Betway.com stated: “Sign up now for a £50 risk-free bet”, and contained a link with the text “Register now”.
