A German court has jailed two men for their part in the European-wide football match-fixing scandal, including Ante Sapina who was previously convicted in a betting scandal involving German referee Robert Hoyzer.
Sapina and an accomplice, referred to as Marijo C, admitted influencing approximately fifty games including a Champions League game in 2009 between Hungary’s Debreceni and Italy’s Fiorentina, as well as a 2009 World Cup qualifier between Liechtenstein and Finland.
