Roar Digital, the joint venture between MGM Resorts International and GVC, has launched its BetMGM sports betting app in West Virginia.

Through a partnership with The Greenbrier, the BetMGM app is now accepting wagers throughout the state on a range of sports. It also offers players in-app live-streamed sports events from across the world, and provides West Virginia sports bettors with access to promotions only available inside the Mountain State.

“We are pleased to be operating in West Virginia and partnering with The Greenbrier, a historic grand hotel and one of the most storied landmarks in the United States,” said MGM Resorts president of interactive gaming Scott Butera.

“Sports betting represents a significant opportunity for the MGM Resorts-GVC joint venture; we look forward to bringing our best-in-class mobile technology to additional states where mobile gaming is approved."

Roar Digital chief executive Adam Greenblatt commented: “We know the passion for sports in West Virginia, which is why we're launching BetMGM with the very best features and promotions already up and running.

“West Virginians will notice the care we've put into making this a mobile betting experience for die-hard sports fans and novices alike.”

Last August The Greenbrier became the first West Virginia casino to launch a mobile sports betting app with FanDuel, which has also been powering the retail sportsbook at The Greenbrier since September 2018.

“We are thrilled that BetMGM is coming to West Virginia and couldn't be prouder that this tremendous brand is launching at The Greenbrier," said The Greenbrier president Jill Justice. "West Virginia sports fans are going to love this app as much as they love visiting us here at America's Resort.”

Shares in MGM Resorts International (NSQ:MGM) closed up 2.04 per cent at $30.97 per share in New York Tuesday, while shares in GVC Holdings plc (LSE:GVC) were trading marginally up 0.94 per cent at 897.60 pence per share in London earlier Wednesday.
