Australia's Northern Territory minister for racing and gaming Peter Styles has appointed Cindy Bravoz as the state's new director general of licensing.

Bravoz assumes the new role on October 1st and will work alongside the racing and gaming minister to progress gambling and licensing reforms in order to cut red tape and simplify processes for licensees.

She joins from the Australian Fisheries Management Authority where she represented Australia in formulating and developing strategic action plans to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities in the South East Asia and Pacific regions.

Bravoz previous roles also include commissioner of the NT Licensing Commission; director of Investigations with the Office of the Ombudsman of the Northern Territory; and assistant director, Fraud Investigation and Recovery with the Inspector General Division of the Department of Defence.

Commenting on Bravoz appointment, Styles said: "She is a highly impressive local talent known for her collaborative leadership style and for building high performance teams.

"I look forward to working with Ms Bravos in progressing gambling and licensing reforms to cut red tape and simplify processes for licensees whilst ensuring that the unique lifestyle of our Northern Territory community operates in a safe, responsible and regulated environment."
