London-listed gaming operator GVC Holdings has confirmed the imminent departure of co-chief operating officer Andy Hornby.

Hornby was announced Thursday as the next chief executive of The Restaurant Group, replacing fellow gaming veteran and former Paddy Power chief executive Andy McCue, who had led the restaurant business since 2016 and resigned in February.

GVC said that Hornby has been a key member of the management team since joining in 2011, serving as CEO of Coral, COO of Ladbrokes Coral and Co-COO of GVC.

“Over the last eight years Andy has been instrumental in the turnaround and growth of the Ladbrokes Coral businesses,” said Kenneth Alexander, chief executive of GVC.

“The business has genuinely been transformed under Andy and I have really enjoyed working with him, and would like to thank him for his valuable contribution to the group. We congratulate Andy on his new role and wish him well for the future.”

Shares in GVC Holdings plc. (LSE:GVC) were trading down 2.25 per cent at 635.00 pence per share in London early Thursday morning.
