Swedish payment solutions provider Zimpler has appointed Oskar Bjursten as its new chief executive officer.

Bjursten succeeds Zimpler co-founder Kristofer Ekman Sinclair, who has served as CEO for the past six years.

Bjursten assumes the the role with immediate effect, while Ekman Sinclair moves to focus on product and business development.

“Zimpler enters a new phase of higher growth,” said Ekman Sinclair. “To scale the business from around 40 employees to a significantly larger organisation, and to take advantage of the market opportunities ahead, we need to upgrade our leadership. Oskar has a solid understanding of our products and intended markets and has a proven track record of execution.

“My focus will be on business development, linking our customers' needs to our fantastic product team. This is my passion, and this is where I will be able to support Zimpler's future success the most.”

Bjursten previously worked as an independent advisor and board member at financial services companies including Castum, Enklare and IDATA. Prior to that he held various CEO and management positions in the fintech industry at Payson, Dibs, UC and Booli.
