15th January 2024 9:42 am GMT

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has strengthened its executive team and Board with new appointments for Gary Delooze and Moray Taylor-Smith.

Taylor-Smith has been promoted to executive director, security, integrity and information security, while Delooze has been brought in as executive director of information technology (EDIT).

Taylor-Smith has been with the company since January 2020, assuming the role of director of security and integrity in March 2020 where he led the department in protecting the club’s security and integrity, including during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his new role, Taylor-Smith will be responsible for the newly established information security risk and assurance function, where he will drive strategy and policy in relation to information security and cyber security and the Club’s incident management capability.

Meanwhile, Delooze joins the HKJC from The Co-Operative Bank in the UK, where he was chief information officer. Prior to that, he worked at Nationwide Building Society and Ernst & Young (EY).

His new role will see him lead HKJC’s information technology (IT) division to develop and implement the company’s strategy and transformation.

A major part of his role will be to enhance IT efficiency and resilience, while driving innovation in its applications and systems to further enhance the Club's position and best practices in Racing, Wagering, Membership and other functions. He will also play a key role in many of the Club's strategic programmes.

Both Taylor-Smith and Delooze begin their new positions today and will report into HKJC chief executive Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
