British bookmaker Betfred will end its online sports betting offering in the United States on Thursday after closing its online sportsbook in Pennsylvania.
Betfred partnered with Wind Creek Bethlehem to launch a retail sportsbook in November 2020 and went live with its online sportsbook a month later under the Wind Creek brand.
The online sportsbook will be disabled on Thursday (July 31) and existing wagers that settle on or before that date will be handled in the usual way. Any winning wagers that settle after that date will be paid out to customers via check.
The closure brings an end to Betfred’s online sportsbook operations in the US, although Wind Creek’s retail sportsbook in Pennsylvania remains operational for the time being.
At its height, Betfred had retail or online sportsbook operations in ten US states, including Virginia, Maryland, Iowa, Ohio, Arizona and Nevada.
Betfred is the latest European operator to leave US online sports betting markets, following in the footsteps of Super Group, Tipico, evoke (formerly 888 Holdings), Kindred Group and Betsson.
