PowerPlay becomes GiG’s fourth active iGaming brand in the newly regulated Canadian province

GiG Software has expanded its Canadian footprint by powering the launch PowerPlay in Alberta’s newly regulated iGaming market.

PowerPlay is already live in Ontario after migrating to GiG’s tech stack last year, and recently secured regulatory approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) to roll out its online sportsbook and casino to players in Alberta.

The launch utilizes GiG’s full technology stack, integrating its player account management (PAM) platform, sportsbook, real-time rules engine, and AI-driven data engine.

“Expanding PowerPlay into Alberta so quickly following the market’s opening in July is another significant milestone in our Canadian growth strategy and highlights the scalability of our technology,” said GiG chief executive Richard Carter. “Having established a successful foundation together in Ontario, we are proud to power PowerPlay’s launch as our fourth active brand in this rapidly expanding province.

“As global markets mature and regulatory requirements evolve, GiG remains committed to providing operators with the end-to-end integration, AI tools, and agile infrastructure required to scale rapidly in newly regulated territories.”

Dean Serrao, CEO at PowerPlay, commented: “Bringing PowerPlay to Alberta is an important step in our Canadian growth, building on what we have achieved in Ontario. Our partnership with GiG has been key to that expansion. Launching SportX alongside our full casino gives Albertans a local, regulated place to play, with the instant Interac withdrawals our players value.”
