Ongame Looks to Increase Italian Online Poker Liquidity

16th March 2010 10:38 am GMT

bwin's Ongame has said that it is looking to further increase the liquidity of its recently launched Italian online poker network, which already boasts five million customers, following the successful migration of seven Italian partners to the P5 Poker Engine.

Ongame launched its poker network exclusively for Italian residents earlier this year, spearheaded by leading poker operators bwin and Gioco Digitale.

"The adaptability of the P5 Poker Engine to power both regional and global networks is showcased by Ongame Network Italy and we continue to work closely with the Italian authorities as we prepare for the anticipated introduction of cash games," said Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame Network.

Italian poker players are offered Sit & Go, scheduled and multi-table tournaments, benefiting from the shared liquidity of seven Ongame Network Italy partners including BetPro.it, bwin, Casino di Venezia, Fast Poker, Gioco Digitale, Gmatica and Sportingbet.it.

As previously reported by Gaming Intelligence, three operators account for almost two thirds of the total €260.7 million spent on Italian online poker tournaments during February 2010, with Microgame leading the field followed by PokerStars in second and the combination of Gioco Digitale and bwin on the Ongame platform in third place.
