Sweden’s state-controlled gaming operator Svenska Spel has blamed the increasing popularity of online and mobile casino games for an 11.3 per cent slump in revenues from its Vegas branded land-based gaming business, with online poker revenues also continuing to decline.

Under Swedish law, Svenska Spel is prohibited from offering casino games online, despite the widespread availability of Swedish-facing online casinos which also advertise freely in the country.
