Jeffers replaces Heather Maurer, who announced her resignation as executive director of the advocacy organization last month
The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has appointed Charles H. Jeffers II as interim executive director.
Jeffers is the founder and principal consultant of The Jeffers Group, bringing more than 30 years of non-profit executive leadership and organizational consulting experience to organizations navigating complex challenges.
He previously served as interim executive director of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and as CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
“Charles’ depth of experience in understanding culture dynamics, operational demands, and board governance is key to our selecting him to lead as interim executive director of NCPG,” said NCPG board president Derek Longmeier. “As he navigates the leadership transition, he will be focused on operations aligned with strategy and transparency, and culture reflecting NCPG values. Our search for a permanent executive director will begin in January 2027, led by Vetted Solutions.”
Jeffers takes over on an interim basis from Heather Maurer, who resigned as executive director in September, having only joined the Washington DC-based advocacy organization in January.
Founded in 1972, the NCPG is the only national non-profit organization that seeks to mitigate gambling-related harm through advocacy and awareness programs.
