Portugal’s national lottery operator Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa has agreed a new contract with scratch card and lottery games developer NeoGames, which will expand the range of products available through its Jogos Santa Casa (JSC) iGaming site.

The agreement sees NeoGames supply Santa Casa with customized games and interactive versions of its existing retail lottery products. It will also provide the lottery with elements of its iLottery platform to enable Santa Casa to assume management of parts of its online operations.

NeoGames will also supply the lottery operator with marketing services to help facilitate growth of the online gaming channel.

NeoGames chief executive Ilan Rosen said that the growth of the lottery’s instant ticket sales was a reflection of its hard work and dedication in providing a “rich and exciting gaming experience in a secure and responsible manner for the people of Portugal.”

“We are committed to building on the success of this partnership and will continue to explore with the lottery new and innovative products and marketing strategies,” Rosen added.

Since 2010 Santa Casa has seen instant ticket sales grow rapidly, with revenue reaching €590.7m last year. It first established a partnership with NeoGames in June last year.

“With NeoGames we have found a reliable partner that can help us increase our revenues from our interactive channels while maintaining a high degree of security and social responsibility,” Santa Casa CEO Fendando Paes Afonso commented. “The knowledge they bring from other jurisdictions and their ability to customize this to the specific requirements of our lottery is of great value and was a key factor in our selection of them as a primary provider of iLottery games.”
