Martin Pakula, minister for racing in the Australian state of Victoria, has appointed former Victoria Racing Club CEO Dale Monteith to conduct an audit of the state’s harness racing industry in order to ensure the sector remains competitive.

The audit will examine the role of the sector’s governing body Horse Racing Victoria (HRV) and the level of expertise on its board, as well as the sector’s infrastructure. It will also look at the debts and liabilities taken on by the harness racing industry, its income streams and administrative duplication.
