The success of Swedish iGaming companies will come under the spotlight next month at an event taking place in Malta, home to numerous Swedish gaming operators and suppliers.

The Spel i Sverige event takes place at The Palace Hotel Sliema in Malta on the evening of May 19th, and will look at the reasons why Swedish companies have been so successful in the iGaming industry.

It features a panel of leading Swedish iGaming executives, including Casumo co-founder Razmus Svenningson, Zimpler co-founder Johan Friis, LeoVegas Malta CEO Johan Styren, and Catena Media chief strategic officer and co-founder Erik Bergman, as well as a representative from NetEnt.

“Spel i Sverige was built upon the idea of offering a forum for networking and knowledge sharing about primarily the Swedish iGaming industry, without charging an excessive amount of money,” Spel i Sverige organiser Steffi Johansson Öhman told Gaming Intelligence. “That’s why we’ve already developed the first free forum of this type in our home market of Sweden.

“We mainly arrange forums in Sweden, consisting of seminars, panels and after work discussions concerning current topical events such as the re-regulation of the Swedish gaming market, IP blocking and the success of Swedish companies.

Öhman explains that the event organiser has previously teamed up with several influential companies in Sweden, such as Internet service provider (ISP) Bahnhof, but the upcoming event in Malta will be its first main event abroad.

“The event is currently under the working title “The Swedish iGaming miracle” and revolves around Swedish entrepreneurs contributions to the global iGaming industry,” said Öhman. “We’ll discuss why Swedish entrepreneurs and companies within iGaming are so successful and what the world can learn from us Swedes.

“We’ve gathered an impressive panel consisting of a number of experienced Swedes from the complete spectra of the industry. Casumo co-founder Razmus Svenningson, LeoVegas CEO Johan Styren and co-founder of Catena Media, Erik Bergman are just some of our panelists.

“We have a lot of surprises lined up during this evening and perhaps there will even be some non-Swedes in the panel!”

Spel i Sverige plans to hold more events later this year, with the Malta event taking place as a direct result of feedback and requests from Swedes in Malta.

The Spel i Sverige event is sponsored by Casumo with Gaming Intelligence serving as its exclusive media partner.
