Pennsylvania and New Jersey have posted contrasting results in their preliminary wagering data from last weekend’s Super Bowl.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) said that the state’s sportsbooks took in wagers of $71.6 million on Super Bowl LVIII, a 15 per cent decrease on wagers placed last year.
Total online bets in The Keystone State amounted to $64.7 million from the 12 licensed online betting operators, with a further $6.9 million derived from the state’s 18 retail betting locations.
Pennsylvania’s gross win from Super Bowl LVIII was $11.1 million, down from the $29.7 million earned last year.
The margin was 15.5 per cent, well below last year’s 35.3 per cent margin, with online win amounting to $10.6 million and $451,039 coming from retail betting.
In New Jersey, preliminary wagering statistics reported by Atlantic City casinos and New Jersey racetracks show that wagers on this year’s Super Bowl climbed 30 per cent year-on-year to $141.6 million, with a projected total sports wagering payout of $133.1 million.
This resulted in a win of nearly $8.5 million for The Garden State’s 12 retail sportsbooks and 18 online operators.
Earlier this week, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) reported record wagering at this year’s Super Bowl, with $185.6 million bet across the state’s 182 sportsbooks.
