Victoria to raise point of consumption tax for betting operators

The Australian state of Victoria is expected to introduce new legislation to increase the point of consumption tax (POCT) paid by sports betting operators.

The state government plans to increase the tax rate from 8 per cent to 10 per cent of net wagering revenue from 1 July, bringing Victoria into line with the rate that applies in New South Wales, with Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania implementing a 15 per cent tax.
